Serving with Us
Serving with The Salt & Light Project is centered on shared activities, meaningful engagement, and consistent presence within local facilities. Through conversation, games, creative projects, and seasonal gatherings, volunteers help create welcoming spaces where connection grows through simple, intentional interaction over time.
Individual volunteering is centered on consistent, relational presence. Volunteers spend time in shared settings, getting to know residents through conversation, simple activities like games or puzzles, and time spent together. These moments are not structured or rushed, but built through familiarity and trust over time.
Individual Volunteers
Skill-Based Activites
Skill-based activities are guided by Program Leads who bring their own interests and abilities into the space. This might include teaching a game such as mahjong, leading an art or craft project, or guiding a light exercise class. Each gathering is simple and approachable, inviting participation and shared experience.
Groups and schools are welcomed into thoughtfully guided experiences with seniors. Visits might include reading aloud, sharing music, participating in small group activities, serving breakfast tacos or donuts, or joining seasonal activities. These moments create opportunities for joy, familiarity, and connection across generations.
Groups & Schools
Seasonal and special gatherings create space for people to come together around meaningful moments throughout the year. This might include familiar activities like egg hunts, spring floral arrangements, caroling, holiday crafts, and shared meals. These gatherings are centered on togetherness and traditions that feel warm, recognizable, and rooted in community.
